Players control companion actions through a real-time behavior wheel, and certain species double as mounts for faster travel.</p><p>During the Jan. 20 open alpha launch of AneeMate, there are five mountable species. In the meantime, character selection expanded to eight playable options, while customization remains limited to preset appearances for now.</p><p>AneeMates aren’t the only in-game element that changed, though. The leveling structure now rewards players for nearly every action, including combat, robot kills, and player eliminations. Area-based quests also grant players XP upon completion, but objectives only count if players successfully extract after finishing them.
