<p><a href="https://classic.axieinfinity.com/">Axie Classic's</a> Competitive Season 16 is live, and it is the last one Sky Mavis plans to run. The studio confirmed that after the season and its Mini Tournaments finish, it will pause regular competitive seasons and active development for Classic. The plan is to hand the game over to the community instead of shutting it down.<br><br>Season 16 started on August 12, 2026. The Season Leaderboard runs for three weeks and closes on September 2. Mini Tournaments run for four weeks, from August 13 to September 10. Chan had already qualified as a former Champion, though, and so had JL, who finished first on the S15 Arena Leaderboard. The slot moved down to Eshaz, the Season 15 Championship runner-up.<br>&nbsp;</p><h2>What Happens to Axie Classic After September</h2><p><br>Sky Mavis says it is working toward giving the community control over Classic's development and direction. The details have not been finalized.
