Blizzard is cracking down on gold buying in the World of Warcraft: Forever beta. The debate started when streamer Ziqo accepted large gold trades from level 1 characters on stream, including one worth 380 gold. On September 28, community manager Kaivax posted on the official forums that Blizzard will increasingly act against accounts that receive bought gold.

The fallout hasn't been consistent. Blizzard removed the gold Ziqo received but, as of writing, hasn't banned his account. Payo was reportedly banned from the beta, while Supatease was reportedly banned and then unbanned on the same day. With no clear pattern, WoW Forever players are now asking a simple question. Is it still safe to give or accept gold?

Can You Get Banned for Gifting Gold in WoW Forever?

Yes, gifting gold can get you banned in WoW Forever. Blizzard has made it clear that both sides of a gold transfer are now on the table. If the gold was bought with real money, the recipient can lose it and face further action, up to having their account closed. The beta has shown this in action, with streamer Supatease reportedly banned after accepting around 100 gold from another player.

Supatease's ban didn't last, though. He was unbanned later the same day. It's unclear whether Blizzard decided the trade was innocent or gave him special treatment as a well-known streamer. Either way, a regular player probably wouldn't get the same quick fix. Without a big audience to raise the issue, getting a ban reversed usually means going through support tickets and waiting.

Supatease has now been unbanned.
— N_Tys (@N_Tys26) October 1, 2026
