<p>CCP Games' EVE Frontier will run on Sui, a Layer-1 blockchain developed by Mysten Labs. The decision follows a competitive process in which multiple blockchains expressed interest in hosting the project.</p><p>EVE Online developers point to&nbsp;<a href="https://funjible.games/news/Game-Dollar-Stablecoin-to-Launch-with-SuiPlay0X1-Console-on-Sui-Network">Sui's architecture</a> as the determining factor. The blockchain's object-centric design, which mirrors CCP's approach to handling in-game items and structures, played a vital role in the studio's final decision.</p><p>"As we dug into how Sui is architected, we came across so many familiar concepts, such as how their object-centric approach neatly matches our historic item-centric approach, enabling billions of objects/items, all placed by players," said Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CCP's CEO. The blockchain shines at handling parallel transactions with near-instant finality. This matters for EVE Frontier's planned "Smart Assemblies" system, which will allow players and third-party developers to build custom objects and structures within the game.</p><p>Beyond the base blockchain, CCP will integrate Walrus and Seal, data storage and encryption solutions.</p><p>Sam Blackshear, Mysten Labs co-founder and CTO, notes that “EVE Frontier is the first game to leverage all of the novel features that Sui, Walrus, and Seal offer.”</p><p>EVE Frontier is currently transitioning its Founder Access build to the Sui platform. Community members will be able to create objects and even fundamental gameplay elements through Smart Assemblies.</p><p>EVE devs value blockchain integration as infrastructure for persistence and ownership rather than as a monetization vehicle. Sui's move programming language allows player-created systems to exist without overwriting or breaking existing functionality.</p><h2>When will EVE Frontier release?</h2><p>EVE Frontier doesn't have an official release date at the time of writing.
