Bringing your Axie NFTs to life in a Chrome extension
There's a new kid in the Axie Infinity town, and it's Axie Pals. This Tamagotchi-inspired game comes in the form of a Google Chrome extension featuring AI capabilities.
Tamagotchis are portable digital pets that originated as handheld devices in Japan, achieving great success in the 1990s. Axie Pals was teased early in September in an Axie Infinity town hall. According to the official blog post announcing the release, Axie Pals was outsourced to Kindred, creators of other similar companion apps, Meta Pals and Flora.
Upon downloading Axie Pals, users' Axie NFTs will come to life on their browser screen. These little ones are highly interactable, and you'll need to feed them once in a while during your browsing sessions. They may even need your help falling asleep.

How to Download and Start Playing Axie Pals
If you have a few Axies in your wallet, you can start playing Axie Pals immediately by:
- Connecting your wallet to "kindredlabs.ai/axie"
- Once connected, choose the Axies that you'd like to interact with. Overall, users can choose three Axies max.
- After this process, you'll get to install the extension and get to hang out with your Axies on-screen.
At the time of writing, Axie Pals has limited capabilities as the developers plan to roll out more AI-focused updates. Once these implementations go live, there will be more to do with your Axie, like chatting with them. As you continue to take care of your Axies, you'll also accumulate AXP. Actions like, petting, feeding, and sleeping will help you work toward the daily 3,000 AXP cap.

AXP comes in two forms, both via active actions and also passive gameplay. There's a metric in the game named "care index" which fluctuates depending on how attending you are to the Axies' needs. If this rate is above 70 percent, you'll get 180 AXP in an hour. There are also active AXP sources, so each in-game action will have AXP rewards tied to them. The cherry on top is the daily missions, giving players even more opportunities to accumulate AXP.
While the game embraces a casual nature, there's already a leaderboard present in the initial launch. This isn't just a placeholder, either, since once a "campaign period" ends, the highest-ranked players will receive even more AXS for their efforts.
Overall, Axie Infinity players who spend a decent portion of their day using a web browser are likely to enjoy and benefit from Axie Pals. Old-school gamers with Tamagotchi experience should hit the ground running, but the learning curve looks to be smooth, especially for players familiar with the Axie universe.
