While AI models can build games from prompts, a finished product needs sprites, sound effects, music and a place where people can play it. That gap is where a new platform called GameFoundry wants to help. It comes from Fracture Labs, the Estonian studio behind the survival game Decimated.

So what does GameFoundry actually do, how does it connect to AI tools like Claude, and who is it really for? Here is everything you need to know before you sign up.

What Is GameFoundry?

GameFoundry is a browser-based suite of tools for indie game developers. It covers art, audio, fonts, levels, 3D and AI generation in one place. It also runs a public gallery where people can publish and share small browser games.

Many of the tools run right in your browser, free of charge, without an account. The AI-powered tools cost credits instead. The platform also connects to AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). That connection lets an AI agent upload and publish a game for you.

Who Made GameFoundry?

GameFoundry is built by Fracture Labs, which was founded by Stephen "Espion" Arnold in 2018. The studio is best known for Decimated, a post-apocalyptic survival game built in Unreal Engine 5. Players scavenge, trade, form alliances and fight on a ruined Earth. The game also runs a blockchain-based economy on Solana.

At Funjible Games, we have followed Decimated closely, from its nomination for Most Anticipated Game at the Blockchain Game Awards 2024 to its planned Epic Games Store launch at the end of 2024.

What Tools Does GameFoundry Offer?

GameFoundry lists 36 tools broken into varying categories:

Art and sprites: a pixel and sprite editor, dithering, image-to-vector tracing, a palette generator, a particle designer, normal maps, tiling textures, a voxel editor and 3D file conversion.

Audio: an 8-bit sound effect generator, a library of Creative Commons sounds, a trimmer and a multi-track mixer.

Levels and data: a tile-map editor with Tiled export, a localization manager and a playtester feedback portal.

AI generators: sprites, animated pixel-art characters, music, sound effects, character voices, 3D models from images or text, and lore and quest writing.

Code tools: prompt-to-code for Unity 6 C#, Godot 4 GDScript and complete browser games.

GameFoundry is also adding features quickly. In September 2026 alone, it launched Sprite Studio in beta and added Godot 4 HTML5 uploads. Its browser game tool also now lets users pick from five Claude models, including Opus 5.5, or bring their own Anthropic API key.

How Does GameFoundry Work With Claude and Other AI Tools?

GameFoundry's MCP connection is built mainly for publishing. Your AI assistant writes the game. GameFoundry hosts it. The process has four steps:

Upload: Your agent sends the game to GameFoundry. It lands as a private draft with a preview link only you can open.

Preview and fix: You play the draft and ask your agent for fixes. Each fix replaces the draft without any review.

Submit: When you are happy, your agent submits the game. A GameFoundry moderator reviews it before it goes public.

Manage: You can update, unpublish or delete the game later.

How to Connect GameFoundry to Claude Desktop

Create a GameFoundry account and set a public handle in your account settings. Uploads fail without one.

In Claude Desktop, open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector.

Paste this endpoint: https://www.gamefoundry.net/api/mcp

Click Connect. A browser tab will open.

Sign in to GameFoundry and click Allow on the consent page.

What Games Can You Publish on GameFoundry?

GameFoundry is built for small browser games. HTML games must fit in a single file of about 1.5 MB, with every asset inside it. Games made with three.js are supported, so simple 3D projects work too. Godot 4 developers can also upload HTML5 exports as a zip file.

Stephen Arnold has said GameFoundry is not a game engine. The quality of each game depends on the developer who makes it. You can browse the Creations page to see what the community has published so far.

How Much Does GameFoundry Cost?

GameFoundry offers a free plan and three paid plans. Browser tools are free on every plan, while AI tools use monthly credits.

Free: $0, with 100 credits per month

Indie: $9 per month, with 5,000 credits

Studio: $29 per month, with 20,000 credits

Pro: $79 per month, with 75,000 credits

Indie is the best fit for most solo developers. It unlocks every tool and removes the export watermark.

FAQs About GameFoundry

Is GameFoundry free?

Yes, GameFoundry is free to start. The free plan includes every browser-only tool and 100 AI credits per month.

Can Claude make game assets through GameFoundry?

No, GameFoundry's MCP connection doesn't include any asset tools right now. The connection handles uploading and publishing games. You can create assets with GameFoundry's AI tools on the website instead.

Does GameFoundry support Unity and Godot?

Yes, GameFoundry supports Unity and Godot through its code tools.
