<p>Yield Guild Games is closing YGG Play, its Web3 game publishing platform. The shutdown affects 35 jobs. The affected employees will get eight additional weeks of pay to manage the transition, and YGG says it will help them find new roles.&nbsp;<a href="https://funjible.games/news/ygg-and-pudgy-penguins-launch-Pengu-Wonderland-LOL-Land">LOL Land</a>, Waifu Sweeper, and the&nbsp;<a href="https://funjible.games/news/ygg-play-launchpad-goes-live-with-lol-lands-lol-token">YGG Play</a> platform itself will go offline on July 31.<br><br>The news comes from YGG co-founder Gabby Dizon, who broke it on X (formerly Twitter) before a fuller interview ran on&nbsp;<a href="https://youtu.be/qD0dMerCFuA?si=BSVGW5TXpj5VzPwC">Blockchain Gaming World</a>. Two of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.yggplay.fun/">YGG Play</a>'s other titles will survive, just not under YGG. That number alone makes the shutdown look surprising. But Dizon says revenue actually peaked back in October 2025, months before the closure.<br><br>Dizon was careful to frame this as a market problem, not a product one. "Sunsetting YGG Play is a heavy decision, but it is a market decision, not a product decision," he said. He also pointed to the team's work under difficult conditions, calling what they built a testament to their talent.<br><br>Dizon points to the crypto liquidation event on October 10, 2025, as the turning point. It hit market confidence hard, and with it, the spending power of the "casual degen" crypto gamers YGG Play was built to attract. The company's new focus is B2B: selling gaming datasets to AI labs, including those building world models.
