<p>The Illuvium ecosystem of games offers a unique blend of RPG elements and auto-battler mechanics, which then also combines with a city builder. As a newcomer to this expansive universe, I recently dove into the game's tutorial, and here's everything I encountered.</p><p>The journey begins with <a href="https://illuvium.io/open-beta?alliance=funjible-games">downloading Illuvium</a> from the Epic Games Store. Surprisingly, the login process is straightforward, with the game guiding you through creating an <a href="https://www.immutable.com/gamers/passport">Immutable Passport</a>, a universal gaming wallet.</p><h2><strong>First Login and Character Creation</strong></h2><p>Upon logging in, you're immediately thrust into character creation. While the current customization options are limited, they provide enough variety to create a unique avatar. After crafting your character, you'll choose a faction. This decision is more than cosmetic as each faction has distinct abilities and lore, adding depth to the overall gameplay experience.</p><p>Post-customization, you awaken from your pod and step into the <a href="https://funjible.games/games/Illuvium-Overworld">Illuvium Overworld</a>, the RPG component of the game. A friendly voice serves as your guide, easing you into the game's mechanics.</p><h2><strong>The Illuvium Tutorial</strong></h2><p>The tutorial begins by familiarizing you with the map and its icons. You'll quickly learn to navigate the world and collect resources, which is also the first quest in the game. You don't have to stress over how to find these, though, as a handy feature, activated by pressing Q, highlights important objects, similar to mechanics in games like The Last of Us or the Spider-Man series.</p><p>To collect materials in Illuvium Overworld, you need to shoot at them and your robot companion then handles the gathering.</p><h2><strong>Action Time</strong></h2><p>Next comes the exciting part - catching your first Illuvial, the wild creatures inhabiting this world. A word of caution: these creatures are skittish and will flee if they hear you approach. For best results, take a guaranteed shot from a distance to damage them before closing in.</p><p>After catching an Illuvial, you'll encounter a portal that transports you to the Illuvium Auto-Battle Arena. Here, you'll face off against the Illuvial you just chased. Don't be discouraged if you're defeated in your first battle. It's part of the learning process.</p><h2><strong>Arts, Crafts, and Revenge</strong></h2><p>The tutorial then guides you through crafting your first weapon in Sanctum Mesa. Armed with your new weapon, you'll return to hunting Illuvials. If you still struggle while closing in on Illuvials, I'd strongly recommend jumping in the air before aiming. When you aim down sight while flying, the time slows down, making it easier to shoot targets.</p><p>This second encounter with an Illuvial once again takes you to the Arena. This will be different from the first time, as you'll have plenty of resources to turn the tides around for an assured victory. After defeating an Illuvial in the Arena, you'll learn to capture it using Cured Shards, a process reminiscent of catching Pokémon. Successfully capturing an Illuvial adds them to your arsenal, and there are also fireworks to celebrate the occasion.</p><h2><strong>Ending the Illuvium Tutorial</strong></h2><p>As the tutorial concludes, you'll select a robot buddy to assist in your adventures. Each companion offers unique abilities - I chose HILD3 for its Illuvial-locking capability. With the basics mastered, you're free to explore. You can test your skills in the Battle Simulator, engage in competitive matches, or return to the Overworld to capture over 150 Illuvials in diverse locations like the Crimson Waste or Abyssal Basin and then use them in the <a href="https://funjible.games/games/Illuvium-arena">Illuvium Arena</a>.</p>

<p>My Neighbor Alice announced its plans to transition from beta to mainnet, marking another significant milestone in its development. The beta launch introduced several key features, including a dynamic trading system allowing players to exchange items and resources, an emote system for enhanced social interactions, and new crafting stations on players' plots and in-town hubs.</p><p>With Chromia's progress towards mainnet, My Neighbor Alice is set to take a significant leap forward. This vision is reflected in the planned features for the mainnet version, which include enhanced self-expression tools such as personalization crafting machines, dialog systems, and quest tools.</p><p>MNA also aims to double down on community features. Plans include a system allowing players to choose their neighbors and expanding mini-DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) functionalities. The players are survivors of a space fleet that had answered a distress signal. However, the survivors find that the planet where the distress signal originated from features ruins of a long-lost civilization and is host to weather conditions that are quite perilous. However, the many different alien landscapes offer vital resources to the players as well as the presence of Illuvials, powerful native creatures that players can capture and harness to their own ends. Every project of the scope of Illuvium needs a central hub for trading, and the IlluviDex fulfills that need. The IlluviDex operates as a marketplace, fuel exchange, and repository that backs up the entirety of the Illuvium universe. Players can find promotional collectibles, such as those found in the Genesis Promo set, on the IlluviDex as well as exchange extracted land resources for fuel to be used to help power one's exploration in Overworld. Guides for the various regions, Illuvials, consumables, and equipment can be found in the Repository hub of the IlluviDex. Meanwhile, all of the possible purchasable items can be found in the marketplace. The IlluviDex serves as the glue holding all of the games in the universe together, while also serving as a hub of knowledge.</p><h2><strong>9. Lush Visuals</strong></h2><p>One of the hallmarks of the Illuvium universe is its graphics. The developers stated that the Illuvium games are AAA games, and one cannot argue that sentiment when it comes to graphics. The game originally used Unreal Engine 4 but made the move to Unreal Engine 5 when that edition became available. The Web3 games of today have to visually compete with the best of Web2 games if they want to succeed. The visuals in the Illuvium universe of games are sharp, detailed, and quite lush. This is especially true when it comes to the Illuvials, which should not be a surprise as they are the core of the gaming experience.
