</div><h2>What actually changed for $SAND</h2><p>Following the expansion, the $SAND token became accessible on Base through multiple channels. Binance completed Base network integration for $SAND deposits and withdrawals on Dec. 15, opening a direct route between exchange accounts and the Base ecosystem.</p><p>Aerodrome, a Base-native DEX, launched an initial liquidity pool to support on-chain trading for $SAND, so the users wouldn’t need to bridge back to Ethereum or Polygon.</p><p>The Base integration also closely ties Sandbox to Corners, a curation platform on Base that launched an invite-only beta on Dec. 9. The changes didn’t prevent Sandbox from progressing through its roadmap, though, as it rolled out updates like the&nbsp;<a href="https://funjible.games/news/the-sandbox-launches-holiday-advent-calendar-with-nft-rewards">Advent Calendar event</a> in December.</p><p>Overall, this is a decent development for the Sandbox as $SAND becomes usable across more environments. Also, Base-native tools like Corners are likely to offer more entry points into the game’s ecosystem, which could be an opportunity for Sandbox to strengthen its player base.</p><p>With the start of 2026 in the books, we have seen multiple GameFi projects move to new homes. Most recently,&nbsp;<a href="https://funjible.games/news/shrapnel-starts-gala-chain-migration-in-january-2026">Shrapnel announced its migration to GalaChain</a>, while&nbsp;<a href="https://funjible.games/news/illuvium-migrates-all-assets-and-core-services-to-immutable">Illuvium migrated all assets and core services to Immutable</a>. Sandbox’s case isn’t a full-on migration, but these moves signal that a decent portion of active projects are looking to build their products in the most favorable ways possible. If a certain chain proves itself to be a better home than what they have at that moment, a move is never out of reach.</p><div class="raw-html-embed">
