A Web3 gaming developer, Gunzilla Games, breathed new life into the beloved gaming magazine and news website.</p><p>The previous owner, GameStop, previously laid off all the staff and stopped Game Informer's operations after 30 years in the business. This decision followed a series of staff terminations within the Web2 gaming industry that involved developers and publications.</p><p>Off the Grid's developer, Gunzilla Games, relaunched the publication under a new entity, Game Informer Inc. Game Informer staff also look to bring back its print subscription magazine with added membership benefits and expanded digital content. This means a new Game Informer issue is on the horizon, and more details should surface once the team of editors and writers is entirely back together.</p><p>While gamers are stoked to see the Game Informer magazine back, Web3 players can't help but wonder whether the publication can start covering the GameFi space with Gunzilla at the helm. The magazine aims to remain independent, but it wouldn't surprise us to see some Web3 coverage, especially about <a href="https://funjible.games/games/off-the-grid">Off the Grid</a> and Gunzilla Games' other activities.</p><h2><strong>Great Minds Think Alike</strong></h2><p>As Game Informer crossed paths with the Web3 world, so did its previous owner. GameStop recently announced plans to raise $1.3 billion through convertible bonds to fund Bitcoin purchases.
