<p>MapleStory Universe is set for a significant economic update, as&nbsp;<a href="https://nexpace.io/communication/disclosures?slug=introducing-burn-mechanism">NEXPACE recently announced plans to deploy a burning mechanism</a>. This system will remove NXPC tokens from circulation on a recurring basis, with the first burn scheduled for Nov. 27.</p><p>The first NXPC burn will cover 3.84 million NXPC from the supply. Every three months, NEXPACE calculates 20 percent of revenue generated through actual gameplay activities, and that portion gets sent to an irreversible blockchain address, effectively locking it away permanently.</p><p>The standard rule of thumb for almost all burns includes a standard “dead address” (0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD).</p><p>Revenue from non-player sources won't factor into the periodic burns, and the treasury movements, development grants, and external funding are also to stay separate. Starting in January, the burns will take place the month after a quarter closes. That means January, April, July, and October are likely to be the burn months, unless stated otherwise.</p><h2>Whitepaper Changes in MapleStory Universe</h2><p>The burn announcement arrived alongside version 1.2 of the NXPC whitepaper. Two new allocation categories have been added to the token distribution model. "Treasury" becomes a separate category, and Ecosystem gets a new sub-category with “Builder Program.” Funds that remain unused in older categories can be reallocated to newer allocations with public disclosures beforehand.</p><p>The&nbsp;<a href="https://nexpace.io/communication/disclosures?slug=nexpace-whitepaper-update">whitepaper update</a> also draws a clearer distinction between temporary and permanent token removals. When players use Fission to create items or convert NESO into on-chain assets, those tokens leave circulation temporarily.
