MIW is an illegal race that features head-to-head racing along a closed track in Little Meow. Ernesto Savage, the leader of the Nine Lives racing club, organized the race. The track boasts a number of city views of Wiami, interesting locations, and quite a number of hot spots players will want to visit. The racing game features a custom-built instanced server infrastructure, giving the game autoscaling and global match-making capabilities. Developers chose a racing game to usher users into the <a href="https://funjible.games/games/Wilder-World">Wilder World</a> metaverse due to the familiarity, fun, and accessibility of racing games.</p><p>Currently, players can choose from two different cars to race in MIW. The game supports both first-person and third-person views for racing. The recent <a href="https://www.zine.live/dev-log-3/">developer blog</a> goes into some detail on what lies under the hood of this racing game. For example, the blog details how apartment and other building interiors are generated via 2D but are implemented so that they appear fully 3D depending upon the angle on how the player views them. The reason for this increased difficulty is that daylight means one source of light (the sun) while the night means many different sources of light (streetlamps, headlights, ads, etc.). The developers go on to reveal the intricacy needed to generate buildings, signs, overpasses, lights, scaffolding, destructible items, and much more. Lastly, the blog talks a bit about the components that comprise a player's in-game avatar.</p><p>The result? The design elements found under the hood of Midnight in Wiami are truly groundbreaking. Their implementation will make this metaverse racing game insanely immersive and something to showcase what the metaverse truly has to offer.
